Pressure hardening has quickly become an increasingly common complement to cold forming in the automotive industry

By forming the sheet metal while hot and cooling it quickly in the same tool, components can be made larger, stronger and more complex than ever before. This means fewer and stronger components per vehicle, with 30–35 percent less weight for each individual component.

Production starts in one of our punching machines and then continues on to the press hardening. There, the steel gets its shape and hardness in the same moment. Press hardening is a question of timing between time and temperature, something that we are truly skilled at. This is how we create the mechanical properties that our customers demand.
Our production equipment consists of punching lines, press hardening lines with hydraulic presses, laser cutting machines for 3D cutting, mechanical presses for post-punching and robotic assembly cells. They are run by experienced operators and maintained by our in-house maintenance and engineering department. Many of our staff have been with us since the beginning and, with their experience, are an enormous strength that is noticeable in both our quality and delivery reliability.

Production work is based on our core values with a strong focus on continuous improvement, which allows us to deliver high quality in all areas. In production, we use the Gestamp Production System, which in short is about eliminating waste, improving resource efficiency and optimizing flows within production.

Gestamp is an international group dedicated to the design, development and manufacture of metal automotive components
