Research and development

Today’s vehicles are being developed with a strong focus on reducing environmental impact, through reduced weight and increased electrification. At Gestamp, we work hard to develop lighter and safer vehicles and thus also better cars in terms of energy consumption and emissions.

The Research and Development unit in Luleå employs around 70 employees. Our mission covers the entire chain from underlying research, design and testing to quality assurance and production adaptation. When we design, develop and test our products, we work closely with our customers from the very earliest stages of development right up to series production.

Gestamp has invested significant resources in its development and research departments for several years as innovation is a priority for us. We believe that research and development is crucial to maintaining our position as a market leader in the long term, while also strengthening our future growth.
